Yosua 7:9

Yehezkiel 35:12-15

Konteks
35:12 Then you will know that I, the Lord, have heard all the insults you spoke against the mountains of Israel, saying, “They are desolate, they have been given to us for food.” 35:13 You exalted yourselves against me with your speech 12  and hurled many insults against me 13  – I have heard them all! 35:14 This is what the sovereign Lord says: While the whole earth rejoices, I will turn you into a desolation. 35:15 As you rejoiced over the inheritance of the house of Israel because it was desolate, so will I deal with you – you will be desolate, Mount Seir, and all of Edom – all of it! Then they will know that I am the Lord.’”

[10:11]  1 tn Heb “he says in his heart.” See v. 6.

[10:11]  2 tn Heb “God forgets, he hides his face, he never sees.”

[35:19]  3 tn Heb “[with] a lie.” The Hebrew noun שֶׁקֶר (sheqer, “lie”) is used here as an adverb, “falsely, wrongfully” (see Ps 38:19).

[35:19]  4 tn Heb “rejoice.”

[35:19]  5 tn Heb “[do not let] those who hate me without cause pinch [i.e., wink] an eye.” The negative particle is understood in the second line by ellipsis (see the preceding line). In the Book of Proverbs “winking an eye” is associated with deceit and trickery (see 6:13; 10:10; 16:30).

[35:25]  6 tn Heb “in their heart[s].”

[35:25]  7 tn Heb “Aha! Our desire!” The “desire” of the psalmist’s enemies is to triumph over him.

[38:16]  8 tn Heb “For I said, ‘Lest they rejoice over me.’” The psalmist recalls the motivating argument of his petition. He probably prefaced this statement with a prayer for deliverance (see Pss 7:1-2; 13:3-4; 28:1).

[38:16]  9 tn Heb “they will magnify against me.” See Pss 35:26; 55:13.

[7:9]  10 tn Heb “and cut off our name.”

[7:9]  11 tn Heb “What will you do for your great name?”

[35:13]  12 tn Heb “your mouth.”

[35:13]  13 tn Heb “and you multiplied against me your words.” The Hebrew verb occurs only here and in Prov 27:6, where it refers to the “excessive” kisses of an enemy. The basic idea of the verb appears to be “to be abundant.” Here it occurs in the causative (Hiphil) stem.
